WHO WE ARE AWARDS AND RECOMMENDATIONS

MANAGING PARTNER OF ABREU ADVOGADOS HONORED BY ROTARY INTERNATIONAL

Miguel Castro Pereira, Managing Partner of Abreu Advogados, was honored with the Rotary International’s “Distinguished Career Award”, one of the “Rotary Awards”, that honors professionals in different fields of activity.

According to José Coelho, Director of Rotary International and Governor of the 1960 District*, this award honors Miguel Castro Pereira for his “distinguished work, motivation, professionalism, education and ethical standards” as well as his “leadership committed to bringing ideas, projects and teams together”. In previous years, eminent persons like José Manuel Tribolet (President of the Instituto de Engenharia de Sistemas e Computadores), Major General José Manuel Garcia Ramos Lousada and Engineer Manuel Ferreira de Oliveira received this award. In other categories, and also in previous years, for instance, Francisco Pinto Balsemão (former Prime Minister of Portugal) and the painter Paula Rego were honored with this award.

The awards ceremony will take place next April 20th, at the Tagus Park Auditorium, in Oeiras. In addition to the “Distinguished Career Award”, other awards will be presented in the categories “Science and Technology” (to António Coutinho – Director of the Instituto Gulbenkian de Ciência and Full Professor of Immunology of the Medical College of the Lisbon University), “Entrepreneur” (to Alfredo Casimiro – President of the Board of Directors of the Urbanos group); “Art” (to Nadir Afonso – Architect and Painter, President of the Nadir Afonso foundation, member of the Military Order of Santiago de Espada and the National Academy for Fine Arts), “Solidarity” (to Luiz Villas Boas – Director of the Refugio Aboim Ascensão) and “Media” (to Judite de Sousa - Journalist and Information Director of TVI).

* Rotary Clubs are grouped in Districts for administrative purposes. A District comprises several rotary clubs and has an identification number. Each Rotary District is led by a District Governor. Portugal has two Districts: 1960 and 1970.
